Marked!: Nancy Hart: The Sharpshooting Spy of the American Revolution

Nancy Hart was no ordinary frontierswoman. Known for her sharpshooting, fierce resolve, and fearless spirit, she became one of the most legendary women of the American Revolution. In this episode of Marked!, host Maiya May travels to Elberton to visit historical marker # 052-9 and uncover the story of the woman known as “Wahatchee” (War Woman). From defending her cabin against British Loyalists to risking her life as a spy for the militia, Nancy Hart’s story is one of courage, grit, and survival. A mother of eight, healer, and deadly shot, she became the only woman to have a Georgia county named in her honor.
